Please give us a short summary of your website?
I aim to provide fun, entertaining articles about all kinds of fitness equipment, from home gyms to elliptical trainers and urban rebounders. The idea is to put the fun back into fitness. I also strive to add some weight loss and fat-burning tips and advice.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I love writing and I am extremely aware of the relationship between health and fitness. I have done extensive research in this regard. This website brings my two interests together and I am enjoying it immensely.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first website launched in 2006. It is about juicing for health - my other passion.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I wanted the name to be very well targeted, so the obvious choice was to include 'fitness' and 'activity' in the name. I also wanted to be able to add sports-related articles later on and therefore decided to include 'sports' as well.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
I try to steer clear of boring lists of features and try to bring some humor into the descriptions of the exercise equipment and tools.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I will continue to build the site. I have no intention of letting my 'baby' go at this time. It is a source of income and will hopefully remain that way. I still have a long, long way to go.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
The site is still very young, but I am making progress. I believe that if you provide honest, useful information, you will succeed.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Perhaps I would make use of Pay Per Click. At this time, I don't do this because of the expense.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes. I am sure I would.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
I haven't really had unexpected costs, but there has been ups and downs in terms of search engine listings. This is just part of the game.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Getting enough traffic to the site always remains a challenge.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I submit as many articles as possible to article directories. This is an effective, free form of promotion. But it takes time and effors.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It has been both fun and hard work up to now - which is more or less what I expected.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Come on, who won't enjoy gains in traffic?
