Spinal Muscular Athrophy is is a disorder associated with the loss of neurons of the spinal cord and brainstem. Patients diagnosed with SMA are characterized with weak body and poor locomotion. Usually, the muscles of people diagnosed with the disorder are weak, they also have poor muscle tone and most of them have a hard time swallowing or sucking foods.

Water therapy is given to patients with muscular problems. The ability if water to lower the weight of the body helps the patients to promote locomotion in the part where weakness starts.
With water therapy, most SMA patients have seen great hope of recovering or prolonging their lives. SMA at the moment do not have a permanent cure but researches about this is currently ongoing. There are a couple of proposed ideas to help patients cope with the disorder. And many would recommend doing the water therapy.
