What inspired you to launch your own website?
There is a need out there for people to be able to determine their nutritional and supplemental needs and be able to access one safe place to find it all.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first website was around January 2000 and it was a very basic e-commerce site.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Website On Health ... says it all :)
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
We are a user friendly portal with only the top selling products in the world. With the ability to customize a supplement program for each individual, we are world's apart from your average vitamin retailer.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My goal is to stake my claim on the growing e-commerce world. Also, I am beginning to focus more on advising others that have entrepreneurial ambitions that involve the internet and e-commerce.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
My investment of time is about 10 hours per week. My investment of money is less than a basic cell phone plan. All of the programming, servers, fire walls, money transactions, shipping, inventory, returns and updates are handled for me by servicing companies.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would travel the world teaching others what I have learned about the evolving internet world and how it relates to our needs. Also, how the internet can change our lives financially in a very short period of time, if you know what you are doing.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Absolutely. We are geared for exponential growth.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Once in a while, I run into someone that leads me to believe that they have ambition and entrepreneurial drive. After I invest my time and money into them, they turn out to not have the backbone needed to succeed in this industry.
What has been your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge, as with any industry, is finding talent and leaders.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of mouth is the most effective form of advertising. People seem to be more likely to work with a person that they have met face to face. I don't think that will ever change. We are social creatures by nature.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Running my website has required much less technical knowledge or programming experience. Marketing and promoting are what seem to pay the big dollars on line from this point forward. Digital loyalty networks are forming everywhere and will continue to evolve.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I have run variations of this site for over three years and plan to continue adding enhancements and growing it. We will be around for the long haul.
