Please give us a short summary of your website?
Nasabb is a site that promotes natural skin care and hair care products mainly from unrefined shea butter and traditional black soap. The site also carries arts and crafts.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
The inspiration came when I started getting allegies from off the counter skin care products due to the chemicals.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first site was launched in 2000 and it was Nasabb
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The name came from my nickname as a child.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Nasabb is different because we are in the business to help people with their skin and hair. We want people to know that they have an alternative. Especially people who suffer from skin and hair care issues that can easily be turned around with natural products. We interact with our customers and work with them. Of course there are exceptions.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I will keep my site. I do not intend to sell it. I look foward to expanding.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Financially it is alright. In terms of time, I cannot stress enough that I enjoy what I do and the time put in does not matter to me. For me the reward is seeing someone happy from using my products and that is enough for me.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would love to get a big warehouse and expand the production department. I would also like to have a store and create more jobs in the community.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Oh yes. Not a problem. That is no thing I have no problem with. I can meet any demand. Nothing is impossible. There is always a way to work things out.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Tossing out products that are not up to standard.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Educating people about natural products. So many are stuck in the old way and find it hard to change to natural products.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Online advertising, word of mouth, linking with other sites
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It is actually what I expected. My expections were to get out there and let someone know. We still need to spread the word but people know now.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Running it full time since 2000. It is not going anyway anytime soon. We are in for the long haul.
Do you love what you do?
Oh yes I do indeed. It is the most fulfilling of my life. Knowing that I am contributing to society in my small way. The thought of the endless possibilities with my business and what the next generation will inherit. Just feels absolutely good inside.
