There are many ways to save money, the environment, and your very own health, but riding a bicycle to work can be more than chilly, sweaty and inconvenient. It can also be an express ticket to death, if you're not careful. The odds of the unthinkable are low, but not zero. Just last year my bosses other assistant's sister (yes, I Googled it to verify its truthfulness,) ride her bike to work as she does every day, but on that day, she got struck by a wayward motorist and died before she made it to the hospital. (Google "Seattle" and "Scaringi" if you're curious.)
If you're going to save the environment by riding a bike to work, consider your path carefully and make sure you're not taking undue risks. Cutting corners may save you a minute a day, but the wager your placing may exactly be your life.
