If you need more reasons to quit smoking, and you know you should, here are a few things to keep in mind. You already know most of them, but here they are again, plus maybe a couple new ones. - Even a pack a day is $1,300 per year, which is $23,000 by the time your kid goes to college.
- Smoking related diseases are nasty, costly and usually fatal.
- You can't smoke in many public places.
- Even short flights are intolerable when you combine boredom with nicotine addiction.
- It's socially frowned upon, largely thanks to the stench, teeth yellowing and inconvenience.
- It lowers the resale value of everything you own.
- Your doctor will stop bugging you about it.

If you smoke tobacco and want to take your health back for the low price of not buying cigarettes all the time, you owe it to yourself, your lungs, your wallet and your kids to quit. It ain't easy, but there's more tools available than ever before. - Most states offer a free quit-smoking hotline with advice and resources.
- The patch and Nicorette gum can make physical addiction symptoms easier.
- It only takes a couple days before lung-function begins to improve. Notice the improvement and count it as a landmark.
- You have to quit now, not later, and not when you run out.
- No matter what, just don't buy more, and don't bum any either.
- Tell your friends not to give you one, even if you ask nicely.
