A Healthy Person is a Healthy Thinker

By Dr. Boolittle at 06/03/08 07:28

A healthy person has a healthy mind. That's what I learned when I was still in elementary.

My grade school health teacher used to say that while referring to many facts about our body. I don't really remember all, but I will just share with you those that I remembered.

She said a person eating healthy foods, getting enough rest and sleep is generally a healthy person. And by being a healthy person, you become a healthy thinker. It's because the blood that circulates our body and goes to our brain, with all those nerves need to be healthy for us to think properly.

Sometimes when we are tired, we always say we can't think properly. That is actually a fact. The nerves are disturbed, and thus, do not function well. These nerves will then transfer information to our brain. If it enters the brain at this state, it results in us being easily irritated.

It was also found that inability to get enough rest caused irritation and bad decision making. When we are disturbed or not calmed, we tend to think of many things and possibilities and therefore we cannot concentrate on something. Ouyr focus is not concentrated.

However, there are already medicinal approaches that will help people cope with this things. There are workshops and seminars wherein people are being taught to fight stress, weariness and depression. There are also methods being taught on how a person can arrive at a good decision by having a good, clam and relaxed mind.

There are alternative approaches too like Yoga and Tai-Chi. With these two, the mind and the spirit are said to be out in it's calmest state. Recent study shows that they are indeed helpful in relieving a person's stress and keeping ones mind calm. These are considered part of psychological medicine though these practices prefer to be called Natural and Spiritual Methodology.
