Please give us a short summary of your website?
A concise guide to Natural Health Information and how you can achieve wellness and health, naturally, this site provides an overview of optimal natural health, traditional diets, and natural health education.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I have been blessed with a very healthy family and a wonderful education about natural health lifestyles. I'd like to share what I've learned with others.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
I've had a blog before, which I began in 2005, but this is my first real website, begun in December 2007.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I wanted to write about natural health, and after I learned that many people search for "Natural Health Information," I decided to go with that as my title. I think it encompasses my focus.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
I have a unique voice, as a mom who has healthy kids and wants to help others achieve the same thing. I also have concise, helpful articles with the basics covered. Some health sites provide excellent information, but it's so dry and scientific it doesn't capture attention.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I would like to keep my website going indefinitely, writing more quality content like I am now and managing it myself. Eventually, some income from it (perhaps through affiliates or ad revenues) would be wonderful.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I am investing tons of time into this site, although my other costs are minimal since the year of web hosting was a gift. Because this is a labor of love, I would be thrilled if it simply helps others achieve wellbeing. However, my family has to eat as well, so I am hoping for eventual monetary success through the site, too.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would improve my graphics and pay for a few quality articles on some specific topics I'm not as familiar with. I would pay for a naturopathic doctor to answer questions from readers as a site feature.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes, since I am primarily supplying information and not selling anything. My bandwidth and such are able to handle a large influx as well.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
None, yet... hoping all continues to go smoothly!
What has been your biggest challenge?
Finding enough time to write--having young children and a work-from-home job keeps me very busy.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Submitting my sitemap to Google and participating on forums & message groups has started a trickle of traffic.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It's taken much more time than I expected. Just researching and writing a page can take hours.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Since December; and I plan to keep it up forever... I'll pass it on to my kids!
Will you start another website? If so, when?
Well, natural wellness and health is my passion so I like my niche as it is. I may someday start a related site if this one is successful.
