What is Man-Health-101-for-Women all about?
We're a place for women to find wellness solutions to help men in their lives live in optimal health. Join the Man Health Wellness Solutions E-zine for tips, recipes, encouragement and support for your health journey.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I've been a local health coach for several years after a health crisis in our family. I've dreamed for years of being a webmaster. My original plan was for the website to support my local clients. However, my vision increased when I stumbled upon Site Build It! They had all the tools and training available in one place to teach me how to build a successful online presence.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first website attempt was a health support site launched about 18 months ago. I was really naive and developed my site on a free host and promptly added all kinds of ridiculous banners in addition to their blinking advertisements. My site was all set, but no one visited. Now I understand the need to attract targeted traffic by providing original content. I just took down the old site last week so it wouldn't embarrass me later.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Through years of health coaching, many women came to me with questions about how to encourage their husbands in a healthy lifestyle. Man-Health-101-for-Women was developed with these women in mind who want to help their partner in his health journey.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
This is not just a site about Men's Health, but a site for encouragement for the women who love them.
What is your eventual goal?
I love health coaching and I am looking forward to maintaining connections with my current clients, as well as forming new online relationships. I enjoy being a part of beneficial change in people's lives. The stories of people getting free from pain and illness fires me up to keep going. We have some great resources to recommend and my goal is for those to support the ongoing work on the website.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
You can't put a price on lives that have been saved from heart attack, stroke, diabetes, cancer, etc. The quality of life gains are priceless for those who are once again able to participate in activities they enjoy with their families and friends, free of pain.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you use it to develop your site?
I would hire a coach or consultant to review my site and recommended strategies for my next steps. It would be nice to have someone to talk to about my site, my vision and the things that I haven't learned how to do yet. Having someone keep me on target for weekly goals would be a real treat.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
[She smiles] I'm looking forward to finding out.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
There haven't been any unexpected costs because Site Build It! includes everything I need to successfully develop my site. There's a lot to learn, so the TIME it takes to overcome the learning curve has been my only frustration.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Learning new skills as a webmaster. But I find this exhilarating as it has been my goal for several years to have my own website.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
My Man Health Wellness Solutions E-zine has gathered the most attention for the website so far.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I had no idea how much there was to learn.
