Please give us a short summary of your website?
A site devoted to the medical test called spinal tap or lumbar puncture. Contains articles on the science, practice and complications of this widely used test. Also patient information. Articles can be submitted for worldwide distribution.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
There is no such site available on the internet.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is my first ever website.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The aim is the name!
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
It organises information to make it easy to find.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
This site should become the first place to lok for information about lumbar puncture (spinal tap).
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Don't know. It is time consuming learning website publishing from scratch.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I'd probably ask someone else to do the web design and have an executive role.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I'd get a larger host account and may employ someone.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
I tried to develop using shareware, but inevitably have had to buy some packages. Also bought some domain names that on relfection were not so good and paid for several when I probably didn't have to.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Getting time to do this in between family, 56 hour a week job, sleep etc etc
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Don't know yet, I'm hoping classifieds1000 will help with that.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Once you get your head round it, it is a lot easier than you think. There is still a need for lot of technical know-how, and I'm sure I'll still need to call for help quite a lot.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Has been running for one week!
Can you receommend any books or resources?
I found the Ineasysteps.com series of books very helpful and easy to understand (I've not been paid any commission for that - I came across them in local bookshop and they are really pretty good guides! I have never met the author, publisher etc of the books, but they were helpful!)
