Highway 2 Perfect Health Interview

By Interviewer at 06/18/07 20:36
Name of your website?

Highway2PerfectHealth

Your name?

Carolyn Jones

Your Location (city, etc)

Marietta

When did you start your website and why?

August, 2006, my partner bought a "website" from a MLM clone site. We got away from that a few months later, and keep learning new SEO stuff daily. The beginnings of the current site were started working around the current domain. Bottom line, we started a website to create "residual income." It has become a hobby(since we haven't made any money, lol.)

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

The website has evolved into a multi-channel health/nutrition/fitness website with some original and some imported fresh content feeds, magazine type format with departments for pets, kids, babies, recipes, directory resources, relevant ads mixed with content, and much more.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

The most difficult thing has been having a perception that you could actually finish your site and concentrate on SEO. We are constantly learning things we've done wrong, correcting them, employing new strategies to appease the fickle googlemonster, only to find out that's passe' and a new tactic's in town!!!!!!!!!

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

The constant evaluation, assessment, tweaking, tracking stats. Nothing is really easy, but that's probably because I've been doing it for 7 months.I hear tell there are no webmasters, only webslaves.

What was your biggest mistake?

Buying automated traffic that artificially inflated unsustainable stats and buoyed us up for a quarter, got us booted from Google Adsense. Not getting into super pages sooner.

Who maintains your website and why?

We do, with CS backup from our host provider, but they're usually too busy up-selling to help much.

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

Nada. It's a "virtual" business.

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

Don't know. There's been a lot of focus on "identity theft" malware, porn, fraudulent banking, online trading,e-mail scams, etc. Seems like it will probably be regulated more.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

SEO, honestly, after seven months of working 24/7 on "organic growth, link campaigns, article writing, blogging and RSS, just to name a few,I sometimes think SEO exists soley for the benefit of those companies that sell SEO services, lol.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

I don't know if they've hindered or not. I've got plenty of listings. I'm in an arena though, with the likes of all the media giants,i.e. About.com ,MSN, Yahoo, Google,Oprah, Martha, and Ivillage to name a few with health/nutrition channels.PPC will take you to the poorhouse!

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Manageable PPC budget campaign with the super pages. A nationwide campaign gives you tons of coverage and links, plus you can pause it if you need to. IMO, the links alone are worth signing on for.

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

Banner exchanges,traffic exchanges.

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

I'm not technical, but I have the impression that the internet has been around long enough now, that it is probably like a city dump, just full of unusable junk that needs to be removed.I't full of vermin and nasty characters have been allowed to proliferate in that environment.JUST CLEAN IT UP!

You can enter a question of your choice and the answer here:

Is Google big brother?

Full Body Scans Are Costly, but Might Save Your Life

By Brian White at 06/18/07 08:53
You may have heard ads for those "full body scans", but what are they, what are they for, and how do they work?

They're the sort of thing your insurance doesn't pay for, because they are preventative and entirely elective. They earn the hospital great money because they aren't priced according to deep-discounted insurance pay matrices, and since they're non-emergency, they can schedule it conveniently.

That doesn't mean it's a bad thing. A scan checks you for any and everything you may be sick with, and it can catch serious illnesses while they're in such early stages that your cure rate is vastly improved.

You don't "need" a scan, but especially if you're a hypochondriac, it will either put your mind at ease or prove to you that you've always been right. Just make sure you can afford it, shop around for the best price, and give it consideration.
