An Introduction to Homeopathy

By Dr. Boolittle at 04/13/08 09:39

, homeopathy: Two Homeopathic Remedies
Homeopathy is one of the most known form of alternative medicine . Though it had been labeled by Medical professionals as a quackery and considered to be a pseudoscience, many people still trust this form of medicine.

The practice of homeopathy is completely the reverse form of scientific medicine. It is considered to yield placebo effect to patients or the therapeutic effects of some sort of faith healing or inert medicines. But these results are not supported by scientific claims and clinical studies making it fall under quackery.

Countries such as United Kingdom and USA are noted to have a number of homeopaths while in India, it is already considered to be part of their medical culture and traditional practices.

There are no known case of bad homeopathic incidents and the procedures and medicines used in practice are generally safe. However, criticisms are high on the part that homeopaths believes that avoiding conventional medicines such as vaccinations, taking of anti-malarial drugs and antibiotics will keep them from acquiring illnesses and will eventually prolong their life.

Homeopathy regards diseases and sickness to be caused by disturbances in a hypothetical vital force or life force in humans and that these disturbances manifest themselves as unique symptoms. Homeopathy contends that the vital force has the ability to react and adapt to internal and external causes, which homeopaths refer to as the "law of susceptibility". The law of susceptibility states that a negative state of mind can attract hypothetical disease entities called "miasms" to invade the body and produce symptoms of diseases. However, Hahnemann, the person who first introduced Homeopathy in the 18th century, rejected the notion of a disease as a separate thing or invading entity and insisted that it was always part of the "living whole"
