Please describe your blog
This blog is an arm or perhaps aura of my family's business, and my dad's life-- Dancing Star. That is the name of our farm and the name by which Chunks of Energy are sold. Chunks of Energy are a healthy snack product sold in bulk. My dad suggested that I start a blog about it because it's a way for me to stay in touch with the business now that I'm 5 hours away at university.
Describe the main purpose of your blogging, what are you trying to accomplish?
Chunks of Energy enable a lot of people to do quite worthy work. They embody practicality, deep health, accessible superfoods, and delicious living. This blog is a way to capture Dancing Star's spirit of serving goods and expose a slightly chaotic way of living. That is what I want to accomplish; yet I am new to the blogosphere, and so far, tend to make fun of that word. I want everyone to think about what their chunks of energy are. I don't know the best way to do that, but I hope the space and connections will appeal to people before they know it, in the same way that Chunks of Energy are for everyone.
What blogging platform do you do and why?
I use Google's blogger deal because I can use my intuition as I increase my literacy of html and other-computer language.
What do you blog the most about?
So far, I have been trying to get a feel for what sort of people are checking out the blog--no one so far I don't think. The intention is to find "chunks of energy"--what makes people tick, what makes the world go round, what initiatives are liberating anyone from the empire in our mind, ways to be responsibly free in an industrialized nation, risky-ventures that rely on self-trust, etc.
What kind of blogs make you angry?
incestuous ones that rely solely on their own value system. That divides into two categories: Ones that are based on criticizing what could be eliminated by blogger doing things besides blogging about it OR ones that are based on the blogosphere's material.
Give five of your best blogging tips.
1 read other blogs 2 read your blog as if you didn't write it 3 only blog when you are inspired 4 keep accessibility, pointedness, and intention in mind 5 remember that not all tips are applicable to each blog 6 don't take yourself so seriously
What are some things you would NEVER blog about?
what i don't want to. I can/will react to anything, though.
Are you like your dad in that you have chaos in your soul and need to give birth to a dancing star?
yep, i like nietzsche too.
How long have you been blogging?
a month
About how many hours per week do you spend blogging?
about 4
Do you track RSS feeds or use Digg?
no, i need to get on those.
Do you use Stumbleupon, and why or why not?
my friend sent me a link once, and it's a wonderful idea that i'm adding it to my "to get on" list.
What promotional techniques work best for you and why?
i tell my friends and they're excited about participating in it with visual testimonials of why they love chunks of energy. They'll tell their friends. I also comment here and there, mostly mom blogs filled with "what to feed kids" posts.
If you could post a blog on any blog in the world, which one would it be and why?
i don't like questions like these. I am an idealist, but not a hypothetical one.
What mistakes have you made that you could warn others about?
Spending so long on interviews like this. I'm having too much fun, but I also have schoolwork to do that's due.
Should you center your priorities around schoolwork for the rest of the evening?
Yes
Have you met anyone offline as a result of your blog?
not yet, technically, but i am finding out about some pretty wonderful "chunks of energy" as i poke around the interweb.
Did you enjoy the interview?
but of course, i hope you did too, and i hope in 5 years i will be celebrating the 5 year anniversary of today
