When did you start your website and why?
I started this site 2 months ago due to suffering for a long time with Gout. Being in my mid 40's I decided to study this painful arthritis and writing a free web site about it.

My site Gout Aware informs a Gout sufferer on what this disease can do to you and the long term health effects it causes. From the stages of gout to potential herbal remedies.
What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?
Finding the time to keep reseaching and writing materia for the site.
What has been the easist part of operating your website?
I enjoy writing and letting people read my opinion from my experiences.
What was your biggest mistake?
My biggest mistake was not starting this years ago.
Who maintains your website and why?
My site is maintained by a company called Sitesell. They have a system of teaching you how to set up a site which they literally do for you, all you have to do it write and research your topic and they will submit it , analyse it and inform you of how to make it the best site possible. Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?
I only benefit if anyone clicks an ad which will possibly cover my end of year expenses in running the site, other than that just learning and writing about Gout. It is an odd topic but there are literally millions of people world wide that suffer from this.
What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?
The internet is the way of the future. I work in a Television production company and we make material more and more for viewing on the internet.
What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
SEO has its place, it is great for selling a product but it requires professionals working all the time to keep up with the internet engine changes. What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?
All I can say is you cannot survive without search engines. They will hinder you if you do not play by their rules and if you play their game and supply excellent material then you only go up in the rankings. But it does take time, sometimes 6 months or more. You just have to keep writing good relevant material.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I am connected via a link in Wikipedia which has brough lots of traffic for my apple cider vinegar helps gout link, but also my actual website company I signed up with promotes my site with all top 4 search engines very well indeed. What method has been least successful for promoting your website?
I think getting poor backlinks has proved to be the least successful but you know you have to give things a go, get out there and try certain thigs out, if they dont work move on and try something else.
What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?
I hate spammers and the amount of fraudsters on the internet. There has to be some way of beating them at their own game. Maybe one day we can get rid of the cheats.
My advice for people wanting to start their own website?
If you have a hobby or know some subject well, get out there and start a site. Especially if you have an opinion. Write about it. You never know, you could well make money out of it and start full time on the internet over time. Write a book, use your brain. But most of all you own your own site and its a piece of you and your ideas not some one elses. You never know until you give it a go...Good luck in life!
