Please give us a short summary of your website?
Learn how to manage a chronic illness, create a healthy home and find tools and techniques to gain spiritual, physical and mental holistic health.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Having my life go into to crisis and having to learn to live with a chronic illness. I found tools and techniques that helped me regain a portion of my health and felt it important to share this with others.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
I built my first page September 2006! Knowing absolutely nothing about the internet and building web sites. I now have anywhere from 600-1000 visitors per day.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Simple healthy holistic living is how I live.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
It comes from personal experience and is written with empathy and understanding.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I would like to keep it for income
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Because of my illness my time is limited but considering the amount of time I invest and the financial investment my return is pretty darn good!
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Well I am a one man show, I would definitely pay someone to work on back links and directory submissions as well as pay a few quality writers to add content to my site. And it wouldn't hurt to pay someone to help with my marketing and monetization.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yup easy enough to hire folks especially within my network. There are a lot of talented people with disabilities looking for work. Real work, work they can do at home and on there own schedule. It is an untapped powerful work force!
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
No real unexpected costs, but headaches, well some just keeping up with the daily responsibilities of a web site can be a lot and some days I just don't have it in me.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Marketing without a doubt! I never quite learned the art of selling myself and I tend to give freely and that hurts the old pocketbook!
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Back links, free ads, yahoo answers and good old hard work when it comes to producing quality content! Nothing beats organic traffic from the search engines.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It can be tedious at times and boring! Not the actual writing or answering emails but the coding and back links.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I have been working on my site since September 2006. I will keep at it until.....well heck I don't know until I am no longer enjoying myself!
What motivates me everyday?
The people. When I get an email from someone who is dealing with a chronic illness and feels isolated and alone thanking me for taking the time to share my experience, it means the world to me. I know how important it is to be able to identify with someone else sharing your similar experience and how import it is to feel validated sometimes it is the one thing that empowers us to make the decision to take back control over our lives and nothing is more satisfying!
