What inspired you to launch your own website?
I did not agree with many things the CEO of my last company was in favor of. I was one of 3 people who started the company that I previously work for 9 years ago. The CEO wanted to focus on selling the company, I wanted to focus on growing the company. --- anyway, I am now on my own and excited to launch my first product 3dRx Insight.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is my first official website launch.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
3d-rx.com came to be because my company specializes in 3d medical animations. The 3d part represents the animation work and the Rx represents the medical industry.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
We use the same software used in Monsters Inc., and other animated films, but we use this software to create high-end anatomically correct animations of the human body. The programming we use to delever these animations allows the user to customize their message to patients and describe a patients condition and treatment in a easy to understand method. Patients will understand and ultimatly have better healthcare because of this patient education software.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My goal now is to use this site to create awarness and generate sales.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Like any business I have taken risk with the hopes of a succesfull outcome.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would be able to penitrate the market faster and expand to other industries.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Not without staffing up and growing my company.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
I have had to deal with the usual headaches associated with software development. Vista has thrown wrenches into the development mainly.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Product Development
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Yahoo ads
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It has taken more time than I expected.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I have had the site for a few months now.
What motivates you to succeed besides money?
Five children and my Wife.
