Name of your website?Breast Cancer 2008
Your name?
Gabe Bartha
Your Location (city, etc)
Chateauguay
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Family tragedy: cancer
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
About 1998, called Forbidden Medicine.com
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I wanted women to visit the site who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Please give us a short summary of your website?
It introduces the latest, little-known integrative treatments. These are neither alternative, nor allopathic therapies, but cutting-edge procedures, developed by mainstream scientists.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
There is no other source of information anywhere where these treatment protocols can be found. Some of them are so new that only a handful of physicians know about them.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Access to the information is sold for a fee, but I have prominently displayed at several places on the site that anyone who cannot pay will get it free of charge, immediately, without any hassle. I wish to continue with the site, regardless of the income.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
My visitors are often mortally ill people. Success cannot be measured financially, only in the therapeutic results for those patients.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Interesting question. I would organize an association of holistic/progressive medical doctors and naturopathic oncologists (yes, there is now such a medical category), and convince them to enrol their cancer patients in a controlled study. It is beyond the scope of this questionnaire to go further, but give me the chance, and you won't be able to shut me up.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
YES, YES, YES!!
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Only the usual ones. I cannot complain. I have another site, www.holisticcancersolutions.com, which is #1 on Yahoo, and #5 on Google for the search term, . That one is also brand new. What has been your biggest challenge?
A brainwashed public and a corrupt medical community.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Pay-per-click programs don't work for me, I would loose my shirt. It is always word-of-mouth on the internet through people like you guys, also by providing free articles, participating in communities and support groups, and the like.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It has not, because I knew that it will build up slowly.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
This one is brand new, but Forbidden Medicine ran for almost a decade. For how long to keep it up? That, I guess, will depend on my life span.
Replace this with a question of your own
This is the first time I had this kind of "conversation" with an internet directory. Who are you, people, are you real, and why are you doing it? Anyway, it was a wonderful experience.
Thanks for the opportunity to talk to you.
