Please give us a short summary of your website?
We have available online as what we carry in our store. We hand make all of our body products and natural soaps on site in our store that's found in a Toronto neighborhood named The Beaches. The website is a natural extension of our fun and funky store.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
We always have received amazing feedback from our in store customers that we felt it was time to show everyone how amazing our products are.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
We launched our website around February of 2007.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The name of our store was actually taken. So we came up with a fun way of describing our site. I FEEL FROOSH!
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
We make all of our products on site and try to keep our ingredients as natural as possible. We personally use all of our products so we want whats safe for our family, friends and customers alike.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
We want to keep our website as our portal to those that don't live in Toronto or for those that find it more convenient to order from the comfort of their own home.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
As with most businesses, the amount of time and energy that you place in will for sure have an effect on the success of ones venture. We work long hours and sometimes weeks on end without days off (i.e. Christmas time) It is finally paying off as we have many returning customers.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
We would put more money into marketing and would probably do a lot more research into more fun and exciting products.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
We would definitely hire staff to help with the production as well with the shipping and maintenance of the website. My business partner has many years of store management under her belt that would definitely come in handy.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
We had some technical issues with the way pictures were being displayed but that was taken care of promptly by our website designer.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Marketing and getting our website out there is a tough one. We have worked with friends that are in marketing to come up with ideas to promote our website.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
The way to get peoples attention has been through articles written about us in affluent papers and magazines.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Traffic varies a lot from the time of the year. We were expecting an even amount of customers all year round but found that during the later parts of the year to show more activity.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Our site has been running for about 6 months and has garnered much attention through out Toronto.
What would we expect from your site in the future?
We will probably keep the current design till years end and would look into doing a new design to show our continuing ability to change and adapt.
