Asthma Helpline is a patient education website. Here asthma patients can get answers to all their quierries about asthma. Site has FAQs, forum, blog, chat room and also has topics on special conditions like pregnancy and asthma, childhood asthma, occupational asthma. There are unique forms by which any body can know if he or she is suffering from asthma, is asthma well controlled mad much more.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I am a Respiratory Physician and specialize in Asthma. I have seen the suffering of asthma patients and always want to help them to live a normal life. For this purpose I have made Asthma Helpline.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first wesite is also Asthma Helpline but as a subdomain URL http://www.asthmahelpline.4t.com
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Every Hospital in every city in almost every country has a Asthma Helpline phone number and asthma helpline nurse. In emergency or to ask any question people use this service. But there was no Asthma Helpline website. So as such Asthma Helpline name is widely used in many countries and is a premium name. thats why I chose this name.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
Unique email forms to know asthma better. You fill the forms and get answers on your email. Lage numbers of FAQs which are regularly updated. Unique topics like Pregnancy and Asthma , elderly with asthma, occupational asthma etc. you must visit to know more.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Eventual goal is to sell this site as I am needing funds to make new medical websites. This includes http://www.copdhelpline.com/
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
My site has good number of hits per day. And also I have made a very unique and useful website for asthma patients.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would have videos, more interactive patient education material on my website.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yeh, definitely.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
No unexpected cost. But its really hard work to make such a website.
What has been your biggest challenge?
To make my site unique and useful for asthma patients.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Promoting at Orkut community forums and listing.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Updating and designing the contents was a very tough and time taking job.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
