Please give us a short summary of your website?
My website is full of information on the services that I provide, it is still being updated, it will eventually have further information on all of the services that I offer and why they are beneficial to an individuals health. The website will also has links to related sites, a monthly newsletter and a wonderful photo gallery.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I run a home based business and one of the key tools to a business is a website, people relate better to a website than they do to a brochure, it is also able to house way more information than a brochure and can be accessed by anyone with access to the internet.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is my first website, it was launched about a month ago (Oct, 2007).
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Orghelaith Wholistics is my business name, Orghelaith means Golden Lady in Fourteenth Century Irish. Pronounced ORE-layth. I am a huge fan of Medieval and Viking history, I love Celtic lore and enjoy studying the past. My business name was birthed from this passion, I love how unique it is and what it stands for, the hard spelling and pronunciation is worth learning.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Most businesses offering Wholistic Services are very one dimensional, the name is exactly what the services offered are - there is no further discovery or enchantment. Orghelaith Wholistics is a wonderful conversation piece and leaves all sorts of questions in a persons head, they will be thinking about what it is and what it represents well after they have heard it.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I plan to move out into the country and open up a wonderful healing cottage on a solar powered acreage, I plan to have a store selling all sorts of wonderful products that are organic and wonderful for both people and the planet, a few treatment rooms in the back and a large teaching facility.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
November is my one year anniversary for Orghelaith Wholistics! I have seen much growth and interest over the past year and look forward to even more in my next year, I will be further developing my business and offering courses in Reiki next year. I am also working on two cook books, hopefully to be published in July/August 2008. Although I spend allot of time developing awarness about Orghelaith Wholistics it has already paid off and will continue to bloom into a beautiful concept.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would have an acreage now, as opposed to my current plan of 2-5 years from now, everything would be environmentally friendly right down to the paint on the walls. I would have complimentary programs to educate people about their health and how wonderful complementary and alternative therapies can be, I would also develop programs for those who are unable to afford services not covered by health care plans.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes, I have a wonderful team that has taken care of every need and challenge that has come up so far with both my website and my business. I believe that the Universe provides all that is necessary, anyting needed will be manifested.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Mostly business licenses from the City of Edmonton, I need to have 4 business licenses to run my business, I find this excessive and at times hard to understand. I think one of the most important skills as a business owner is to be able to look at a situation from every angle. I read all the fine print and make sure I understand it and have plans in place incase any issues should arise...
What has been your biggest challenge?
Probably dealing with my own self criticism and doubts. We are usually the hardest judges of our selves. I must say though that through my experiences so far I have come to have more self respect and a deeper understanding of who I am and what I am striving for.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
At the bottom of all my emails I have a link to my website, I think most people see it and since the only effort they need to exert is to click their mouse they decide to go check out my site.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Since I have someone else who looks after my site, sometimes communication can go awry and needs to be sorted out. It has taught me to be very descriptive and patient - two virtues that have certainly made me a better person.
Can you please tell us a bit more about what services you offer?
I offer Massage Therapy, Reflexology, Reiki, Colour and Sound Therapy and Chair Massage as well as a few other techniques and modalities that work well in combintation with these services. All of my services are based on Natural Healing and the bodies regenerative powers, please check out my site to learn more about what I do and how it works.
Who has helped you to realize your dream?
Many people have helped me so far and I am sure many more will as well. I would like to thank my friend Carmen Steele for all of the wonderful drawings and for countless hours of walking delivering flyers with me. My good frined Betty Kucher for all of her work on my website, designing my business cards and for all of her wonderful advice on running a business. I would also like to thank all of my teachers, for helping me to realize my dream and for their wonderful support. A big thank you to my parents, my brother and my boyfriend for all of their encouragement!
