AIDS - Years Of Prevention, Still No Effect

By The Herb Doctor at 10/07/08 06:12

Just this morning I read an article about the increasing number of people acquiring AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) despite the fact that the world has now better access to medical facilities as compared to the previous years. It also seems that the awareness people are throwing about the disease is not enough.

People around the world are now well aware of AIDS, or at least that's what we know. But still, a total of 34 million people around the globe are suffering from it.

The sub-Saharan region is still the most widely affected with AIDS. An estimated 68% of their people are infected and 76% of them dies because of it. In 2007, a new 1.7 million are infected with HIV in the region, making a total count of 22.5 million. Also, the number or children orphaned because of AIDS increased to 11.4 million.

People are still neglecting the possibilities of contracting AIDS despite numerous awareness programs. People living in poor areas are still the widely affected region. Poor knowledge, poor hygiene/sanitation and poor control of their sexual urges are the main reason why AIDS is still increasing even the modern times, where almost all diseases are now curable.

AIDS is now starting to spread all around the world. South Africa is the most widely affected country, followed by Nigeria and India is now the third country with the highest number of infection.

This is a sick situation. Life expectancy in countries most affected has drastically dropped. One example is Botswana. Its life expectancy used to be 65 but 2006, it dropped to just 35 years old.

I know its hard, but people let us all be aware of AIDS more today than yesterday. This is a serious matter and we are all involved in it. We can all be infected by it so let us all take the necessary precautions and let us make AIDS history. It may not happen instantly, but we can at least give hope and save the next generation.
