What is your site about?
Acupuncture By Dawn is dedicated to promoting wellness via the holistic approach of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Modern Dietary strategies. Specifically Dawn uses Acupuncture, Massage, Herbal Medicine and Nutrition to help her patients achieve their best health and feelings of wellness
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Our goal is to help as many people as possible. We hope to use the web to find people in need of our help.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Our site was first launch in August of 2004. While our website has gained more content and undergone several design changes, our goal has remained the same.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
We wanted a name that both said what we do and was unique and memorable. I hope we acheived that.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Our site is full of articles, videos and other good information for viewers who are interested in learning more about acupuncture and our holistic approach
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Our site will be a lifelong commitment to informing readers and helping us reach every possible person we can help.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Our website to date has been a labor of love. We have done most of the work ourselves and continue to learn more about what it takes to reach more people.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I think we would find ways to reach more people to help, add more content and perhaps increase the visual appeal of the site in hopes that we could attract even more people who could benefit.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Absolutey. Not only are we capable of handling 2 to 3 times our current workload, we also have relationships with other fantastic Acupuncture practioners who could help people to healthy lives.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
None really. Our major expendature has been time invested.
What has been your biggest challenge?
At this point our biggest challenge is merely reaching more people to help. We continue to invest our spare moments to reaching out.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
We have several methods employed. We receive moderate traffic that comes from various sources. Currently our adwords campaign is performing pretty well.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Initially I personally thought that the only way to get a high search engine ranking was to pay for it. I was very pleasantly surprised to find out that we could acheive a better ranking with research and hard work.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Our site is approaching its 3 year anniversary. We will maintain this site until we retire.
Do you have plans for additional websites?
Yes. I am planning to create a site dedicated to environmental and renewable energy subject matter. I feel this is going to be the most important topic of the next decade. I want to be a positive contribution to the move towards a healthy and responsible world.
